The association was established in 1987 by a group of residents with a desire to preserve the rural quality of life of the community.

It is our intent to help provide the residents of our community with timely information regarding community issues as they arise, help the community stay abreast of the major development projects as they occur, and defend the integrity of our Granite Bay Community Plan. The association publishes at least 10 news letters titled "Granite Bay Alert" during the year, normally each month except December.

The Association occasionally becomes actively involved with the County Planning Department, the Planning Commission and the Board of Supervisors when specific development proposals threaten the integrity of our Community Plan.

We frequently provide guidance or assistance to local residents and neighborhood groups, to provide a forum for the exchange of ideas and concerns, and to help them understanding the process when trying to deal with the county agencies.

The association attempts to provide a schedule of regularly scheduled or special meetings along with brief agendas when possible for the Municipal Advisory Council, the Fire District, the school districts, and the Water District.

We will also try to provide as much notice as possible about the time, place, and subject when an item of interest to the community is being heard by the Placer County Planning Commission, or the Placer County Board of Supervisors.
